1. Promoter
    • The promoter of this competition is Southern Co-op, 1000 Lakeside, Western Road, Portsmouth, Hants, PO6 3FE (“the Promoter”).
  2. Eligibility
    • Employees of the Promoter, their immediate families, or anyone professionally connected with the competition are not eligible to win a free shop.
    • Participation is automatic when shopping in any participating stores during the campaign period.
    • Only available in store at Southern Co-op, not including Welcome franchise stores, or home delivery.
  3. Competition period
    • The campaign runs from 1st December to 24th December 2025, inclusive.
  4. How to enter
    • Simply shop in any of the participating stores during the campaign period.
    • There is no entry form or purchase requirement beyond making a standard transaction.
    • Shoppers will be selected at random by Southern Co-op colleagues, either while sopping or at the checkout.
  5. Prize details
    • Selected shoppers will have the cost of their shopping covered by the Promoter, up to a maximum value of £30.
    • The transaction will be processed with a £30 gift card, and any remaining balance will be given to the customer to use at a later date. Usual gift card terms and conditions will apply thereafter. These are featured on the back of the card and are available here – Gift Card Terms & Conditions
    • If the total of the shopping exceeds £30, the customer will be responsible for paying the difference.
    • The ‘free shop’ offer is not transferable, refundable, or exchangeable and no cash alternatives will be offered.
  6. Participating stores
    • The promotion is valid in participating stores only across the UK. Store availability and stock levels may vary. Only available in stores at Southern Co-op, not including Welcome franchise stores, or home delivery.
  7. Exclusions The following items and services are excluded from the campaign and will not be covered as part of the free shop.
    • Fuel
    • Lottery
    • PayPoint
    • Stamps
    • Mobile phone top-ups
    • Gift cards
    • In-store services or concessions
    • Any excluded items in the customer’s basket must be paid for separately by the customer.
  8. Selection of Shoppers
    • Shoppers will be chosen at random by Area Managers or ‘Back to store’ colleagues from Head Office in participating stores throughout the campaign period.
    • The decision of the Promoter or store staff is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
    • The chosen shopper will be invited to take part in promotional activity, such as photographs or short videos for use on the Promoter’s social media channels, marketing materials and website.
    • Participation in promotional activity is optional, and the shopper will be asked to provide written consent before any photographs or personal details are used.
  9. Use of personal data (GDPR compliance)
    • The Promoter will only collect and process personal data (such as name, image, or social media handle) for the purpose of administering this competition and sharing promotional content related to it.
    • Personal data will not be used for any other purpose or shared with third parties, unless required by law.
    • All personal data will be handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protections Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
    • The shopper has the right to withdraw consent for the use of their image or data at any time by contacting the Promoter at [email protected]

  10. General conditions
    • The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw or amend the campaign at any time without prior notice of circumstances make this unavoidable.
    • The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any costs, loses, or damages incurred as a result of participation in the campaign or acceptance of the prize, except where required by law.
    • By taking part in the campaign, participants are deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
