Care and kindness from our Frome funeral home
At our Frome Funeral Home, community has always been at the heart of what we do. Recently, the Frome Times shared a story that perfectly reflects this spirit. A local group of volunteers have been knitting small hearts for people receiving palliative care, offering comfort to patients and their loved ones at one of life’s most delicate moments.
Kelly, from our Frome team, alongside colleagues at The Co-operative Food on Nunney Road, has been collecting these hearts and helping to champion the initiative across the local area. Each heart is shared between a patient and someone close to them. When they are apart, each holds one, a quiet reminder that they remain connected. It is a simple gesture, but one filled with comfort, care, and meaning.
Working closely with families every day, our Frome team see first-hand how powerful small, thoughtful gestures can be. Grief and loss are deeply personal experiences and often it is not grand actions that bring comfort, but simple signs of care, time, and understanding.
Kelly’s story resonated strongly with us because it reflects what we believe across our funeral homes. Compassion is not only shown through services and arrangements, but through presence, empathy, and community support.
What makes initiatives like this so special is that they are born from the community itself. Frome is known for its kindness, creativity, and willingness to support others, values that our wider Funeralcare teams are proud to share. We regularly work alongside local groups, charities, and individuals to help strengthen the network of care around families experiencing loss. Together, these connections help ensure that compassion extends beyond our doors and into the heart of the community.
Sometimes, it is the smallest gestures that stay with us the longest.
