Hundreds of people order their coffee from home
Canterbury, Bath and Bristol residents have topped the chart when it comes to ordering their coffee to be delivered.
The figures come following the launch of a delivery service by a regional coffee company which runs Starbucks franchise stores across the south.
Cobra Coffee, which is part of a regional co-operative, launched deliveries across nine of its Starbucks stores on 19 October and had more than 850 orders in the first week.
Coffee lovers in Canterbury, Bath and Bristol proved the biggest lovers of coffee direct to their doors with 200 orders in Canterbury alone.
The service, which is offered exclusively via Uber Eats, is currently available at its stores in Bath’s Strahan House in Avon Street, Brighton’s St James and North Road, Bristol’s Whiteladies Road in Clifton Down, Canterbury’s St George’s Street, Horsham’s Pirie’s Place, Hove’s Western Road, Southampton’s London Road, and Tonbridge’s High Street.
Gwyn Kennett, Head of Operations at Cobra Coffee, said: “With so many people currently self isolating, the delivery service via Uber Eats has been warmly welcomed.
“We have definitely seen a high number of deliveries to students and families who are being asked to stay inside at the moment.
“It’s times like these when we appreciate the small things – for some of us, this is having a pumpkin spiced latte delivered to our door.”
Coffee lovers with the largest orders were in Horsham and Tonbridge where the average order was between £1 and £1.50 higher than other areas.
The delivery service success means a further 11 Cobra Coffee branches will be offering delivery via Uber Eats from Monday 2 November.
These will include Starbucks stores in Brislington, Bristol’s Temple Quay, Crawley, Eastbourne, Maidstone, Southampton’s Nelson Gate, Tunbridge Wells, Wokingham and Worthing.
