The big chill

These easy ice lollies are pretty as a picture, and straight-forward to prepare, so they’re perfect for making with the kids. Plus you’ll have loads of tasty frozen treats waiting in the freezer for when the sun comes out. Just remember, the flavour of the mixture will dilute a little once frozen, so make sure they have a strong taste before you pop them in the freezer.

Peach melba lollies (pictured)
Blitz tinned peaches with a little of their syrup (or you could use fresh peach segments blitzed with a little honey). Swirl the peach purée through softened vanilla ice cream, then add a few raspberries. Put more fresh raspberries into moulds, add the peach ice cream on top, then freeze until set.

Cereal milk pops
Pour milk and some single cream over honey nut cornflakes (or another cereal of your choice – rice pops, Coco Pops and cornflakes would all work well) and leave to infuse for an hour. Strain off the milk. Put some crushed honey nut cornflakes (or other cereal) into the end of a mould, pour in the strained milk and freeze until set.

Berry smoothie pops
Blend a mixture of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries in a blender. Briefly swirl into Greek yogurt to give a marble effect, stirring in a little honey to taste. Pour into moulds and freeze until set.

Grape and blackcurrant lollies
Make up blackcurrant cordial to a medium strength, then pour into moulds. Cut grapes in half and add to the moulds, pushing the cut side against the edges for a nice effect. Freeze until set.
